Our School Counselors

School counselors are essential to our student's success and support the well-being of our students. Their primary role is to help your child get the best education possible. A good education involves mastery in academics but also the development of social skills and emotional identification.

We have two school counselors at La Entrada who are caring individuals who always have their eye on our students on campus in case a child needs extra support.

Jennifer Montalvo works with the upper elementary students in grades 4 and 5 and half of the sixth-grade class.

Vivian Tavernakis supports half of our sixth-grade class and students in grades 7 and 8.

Our counselors use their expertise to help keep students grounded in their socio-emotional development to yield compassion and empathy in the community. They strive to ensure our students cultivate the skills to make strong and healthy friendships, make safe decisions, and exercise their intuition and imagination.

Our school counseling services include:
  • Providing individual counseling to a student to help them work through anxiety, stress, or grief.
  • Facilitating small group counseling sessions.
  • Working with parents and serving as a bridge between home and school, whether creating a plan to help either child social-emotionally and academically or assisting families in finding resources they may need.

In addition, our district has a variety of schoolwide social-emotional learning activities around self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills, conflict resolution, and coping skills,  all of which our school counselors lead.

If your family or your child is experiencing anything out of the ordinary, please let the counselors know so they can best support you and your student.

If you are a La Entrada student who would like to report something unsafe anonymously, please fill out this form. All students should feel safe at school, so we encourage you to report unsafe behavior when you see it. If you know that someone is doing something that they should not, you need to let us know so the issue can be addressed. It is important for us to create a welcoming and safe environment.

We will take your feedback seriously and expect that you are here to fill out this form because the situation is serious to you too.
